MANTIS Launches New AI-Driven Camera Solution to Achieve DVS Compliance

MANTIS has launched an AI camera system built for the Direct Vision Standard 2024 requirements.

DVS sets a minimum star rating for how much a driver can see directly from the cab. Below that rating, the vehicle needs a safe system fitted instead, and the permit follows the equipment.

What the system does

Real-time processing on the device to identify vulnerable road users, with coverage around the vehicle rather than in front of it.

For a fleet manager that means three things:

• Coverage of the blind spots DVS is concerned with
• Video evidence when an incident involves a cyclist or pedestrian, which protects the driver as often as it protects the company
• Alerts and data that can be used for coaching rather than only for compliance

DVS requirements have moved before and will move again. Anything fitted now should be able to take that.
