Walter Watson operates across steel, reinforcement and cranes, with vehicles moving materials, products and equipment across the wider operation. Reliable transport and delivery accuracy are central to the business, which makes fleet visibility part of how it manages risk.

The challenge

Fleet managers need to know what happened on a journey, not only where the vehicle went. When an incident occurs they need footage and data that hold up, rather than a gap where the evidence should be.

For Walter Watson the priority was visibility across the fleet, reliable evidence, and accountability day to day. That matters more with large vehicles and specialist loads, where uncertainty turns into delay and dispute.

The solution

Walter Watson runs RECON across a 23-vehicle fleet, bringing video and telematics together for faster incident review and day-to-day oversight. Simplicity Group implemented the deployment.

The distinctive part is a proof-of-concept on the newest rigid vehicle, running five cameras to test whether connected visibility can confirm that what was delivered matches what was ordered.

That extends what the cameras are for. Beyond road incidents, it covers delivery confirmation, load visibility and customer disputes, which for a business moving materials and high-value equipment is a practical difference rather than a theoretical one.
